Want to see a stay-at-home-mom go a little insane? A little nutty? A little drooling from her mouth while rocking herself in the corner style behavior? Yeah...throw in a stubborn storm that actually caused schools to shut down and make sure it coincides with a teacher conference staff only work day and the Veteran's Day holiday. Dear Lord. My girls have been off from school since Monday and the weather has forced us to remain inside the whole time. Help me....
Ok the first two days, I gotta give them credit, they were amazing. They played nicely. They didn't draw blood. And no one even received a time out. But they can only be locked inside this house together for so long before good behavior is out the window and they are threatening each other's lives. And oh man..we still have the rest of today to get through as well as tomorrow.
What have I been doing to survive? Ha, cleaning like mad (because somehow it releases frustration) and hiding and seeking escapsim through reading of course. I have almost finished the Masters of Time series by Brenda Joyce. I am just waiting on the last book right now from the library. I refuse to fret, though, as I finish up the last 15 pages of her next to last book--because I still have Ward's new Fallen Angels book to read--Covet. And what adds to my feeling of "all will be ok in the world as long as I have a good story to read", I just found a local smut dealer via craigslist. Good lord, this woman has over 280 books--over 280 paranormal romance books. I about keeled over and died with a smile on my face when I found her listing. I wrote to her and low and behold, she has several that were on my "to buy" list. I'm currently waiting to see what kind of deal I can strike. I've made out like a bandit so far with my quest to own the entire Anita Blake series by Hamilton--hell I've gotten the first 14 books for a mere $30. Why anyone in their right mind would sell such a valued collection is beyond me. But hey, the outcome of someone else's foolish behavior is my gain, right? Me thinks momma is gonna need smut holder bookcase #2 soon.
I did manage to fit in a few work-outs during this God awful unrelenting session of rain and that story idea I spoke of the other day continues to haunt me. I think I just need to steal the girls' laptop and hide away in my locked bedroom with some good music and just type before I go insane from it. The idea won't go away and I find myself daydreaming of it during my every day tasks. Probably a sign I need to get it out of my system.
Since Matt has returned home from deployment, I have wanted, desperately, a weekend of quiet--of nothing to do and no where to be. Given the weather, Jules soccer tournament was canceled and now here we are....nothing to do, no where to be. And I am going freakin looney. There are now paint samples all over my house because, damn it, if I have to spend another winter inside here, I better have freakin color on my walls. Good lordie I hate white walls.
The only other happenings was a dental visit for all four of us girls--we all passed with flying colors and I have just about made it to the big 3-0 without a single cavity. I can't complain. This coming week, Jules and I have an eye dr's appt. It appears our girl needs some reading glasses. Believe me, I am just glad she's not blind as a bat like her mother! I hope none of our girls get that curse.
With any luck, I'll have more exciting happenings to report next week because right now we're just pretty much been sitting around staring at each other. This rain has got to stop.....
Megan Fox may be an action star, a brunette beauty with striking blue eyes and an actress that the men’s magazines go ga-ga over, but she doesn’t think she has much in common with another actress with a strikingly similar past pedigree. “People compare me to Angelina Jolie , and she’s so serious …

Such a nice night for mid-November at the 400 Bar. Athletes in Slacks (myspace) warmed up the crowd with their laidback loungey harmonizing sound that only two keyboarders and a guitarist can produce. The band claims all their songs are about love, except later on their hour-long set, they introduced a song about hating two guys from New York. They did finish strong with a cover of INXS's "Never Tear Us Apart", and that's what really matter.
The first time I heard about Swedish band Little Dragon, was in January. Ceji was really into them. Since we generally like Swedish bands here, I did try and keep up with their whereabouts. As it turns out, they're in the middle of their tour through the US to promote their sophomore album, Machine Dreams. Although the band's been here already, they confessed last night that this was their first time in Minneapolis.
They didn't do Ceji's favorite "Recommendation" song, but I though hands-down their best song played was "After The Rain", complete with an amazing ending.
From what I heard from their live set, their new songs seems to drifts from the R&B and Jazz influence to more electro and beats. I think the combination works well for them, especially since I like their big beats/electronica sound.

I've been to a lot of shows lately, and I can tell you that this was one of the best shows yet. They're heading their way to the East Coast, so definitely check them out. If they're not heading through your city, you should check out Machine Dreams, out now on Peacefrog Records.
) ♥ little-dragon.se ♥ myspace.com/yourlittledragon Everyone knows and loves Kate Walsh because of her hit TV show Private Practice. Everyone wants to go see Kate Walsh Private Practice.
What they don’t know about is her divorce with her husband. Apparently they called it quits after a large fight they had. I don’t know how she feels about it but she seems to be alright.
She has been out partying and enjoying the single life. Everyone seems to think that she is doing just fine with everything going on. She looks really good while she is out on the town.
If you happen to see Kate Walsh around, she probably is looking great. Nobody would suspect that she has just gone through a divorce. She seems like everything is great in her life.
19 Nov - The Step Inn Fortitude Valley, Queensland w Mexico City & Sue Ray
27 Nov - The Tote Melbourne, Victoria. w James McCann’s Dirty Skirt Band, Black Pony Express & Little John.
An honourable mention also has to go to Jamie Hutchings. I'm sure he's being playing shows in some form or another since before the dawn of time. Always enjoyable.... and, it seems, about to embark on a tour of europe, so if you're over that way, be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled. Or maybe just look at his website for tour dates (might be easier).
20 Nov 2009 - MUM at World Bar, Kings Cross, Sydney, 21 Nov 2009 - The Clubhouse (formerly Empire Corner Bar), Fortitude Valley
Organs are so weird and whenever i see a TV show or a movie with organs it just gives me that weird feeling in my stomach and makes me want to throw up. Like when I see a heart or something it is just so weird seeing that is what is in us or when you are watching a show or a movie where the body gets a disease and you see what it does it you. Makes me think “What if that happened to me.”
Also seeing how food is digested and how everything just flows through the body. One of the worst things is when you see someone break a bone and it pops out of their skin and you see it and see all the blood and everything. It looks so painful. Maybe some of the worst pain ever next to pregnancy that is.
Suggested by JM:
“Life is too short to read bad books.” I’d always heard that, but I still read books through until the end no matter how bad they were because I had this sense of obligation. That is, until this week when I tried (really tried) to read a book that is utterly boring and unrealistic. I had to stop reading.
Do you read everything all the way through or do you feel life really is too short to read bad books?
I've almost always completed books that I've started. Maybe because I usually read books that have been well-reviewed or maybe because I'm generally an optimist and that even after a slow start I hope that it might get better, or maybe I have a stick-to-it-iveness that says if you're going to start something you might as well finish it.
Speaking of of finishing it, that does remind me of one of the few books I didn't finish -- "IT" from Stephen King. Clocking in at over a thousand pages and at the apex of his drug-addled, no-one-will-edit-him 80s long windedness (Steve: more isn't always better) -- I plodded along in this for about 400 pages and then said, "No mas!"
Oddly, I know several people for whom this book was one of their favorites, but I couldn't stand IT.
